Culturally Inspired England World Cup Anthem Launched by Fusion Band Masti

The ambitious project delivers a fresh, culturally inspired England anthem for the modern day football fan – celebrating how football brings communities and cultures together through a shared sense of belonging. The song features an instantly memorable chant – “Tinga-linga-linga-linga-linga-linga England!” – blending football terrace energy with South Asian musical influences in a way never before heard in an England World Cup song. The accompanying music video includes a special appearance from former England, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United footballer Garry Birtles who attended the video shoot. Among those taking part were pupils and staff from Braunstone Community Primary School – the viral “raving school” that gained national attention on Britain's Got Talent last month after receiving the Golden Buzzer from Stacey Solomon. Also contributing to the production are two legendary names in music – renowned engineer and producer Pete Ware, and Kulwant Singh Bhamrah on the tumbi – famously recognised for performing the iconic riff on Punjabi MC’s Mundian To Bach Ke. Masti are a multi-award-winning father, son and uncle trio who have built a large social media following through their fusion mashups, transforming English classics into Bollywood and Bhangra-inspired songs. The group rose to national prominence during Christmas after their Bhangra remix of Jingle Bells amassed tens of millions of views worldwide accumulatively and was performed live on BBC One.

The Nottingham-based family band launched in 2023 after DJ Aamir Rana set out to bring his father Amjad and uncle Surinder back to the stage. The duo were previously members of 1980s Bhangra group Nayi Roshni, whose albums reached the top three of the UK Asian music charts and achieved international success from Singapore to Canada. However, Amjad stepped away from performing after becoming a father. Having grown up listening to his father’s music, Aamir always dreamed of bringing him back to the stage – leading to the creation of Masti. Aamir sings English, whilst father Amjad sings the Punjabi parts. Over 100 people attended the music video shoots, including dancers, families and supporters. 100 custom-designed Masti football shirts were distributed to extras and children involved in the production. The project reflects modern Britain itself – celebrating the way football continues to unite people from all cultures and backgrounds. With a highly engaged UK audience spanning multiple generations, strong festival performances planned and a unique family dynamic, Masti are hoping the anthem will become a soundtrack for fans throughout the World Cup journey.
