Odyssey

After the battle of Troy where the Greeks and Trojans fought over The most beautiful women of the time where Odysseus fought under King Agamemnon and his brother who had his wife stolen by Hector prince of Troy. The battle lasted over ten years in which the Greeks won via the use of the Trojan horse which the Trojans believed was a gift given by the Goddess Athena which they then brought back behind the unbreakable walls of Troy entailing in their unescapable defeat.

The battle had ended but for odysseus the war had just began. As he set sail back to his homeland with his soldiers he is faced with a dangerous voyage causing him to then encounter creatures like Polyphemus, Cyclops and sirens. Having set sail the fleet fall onto an unknown island in which they meet Cyclops where they are trapped in a cave following a flock of sheep. Odysseus embarking the sin of pride escapes the Cyclops with his men but  wanted payback for the few men the creature had eaten by shooting an arrow in its eye which it then cried for its father who happened to be Poseidon God of sea leading to the miscellaneous journey home.

It then continues with their journey home falling into countless creatures including sirens and witches where the whole fleet are then killed leading to only odysseus returning back to his newly shaped home.Odysseus eventually reaches Ithaca, but his journey is not yet complete. Returning home in disguise, he discovers that his kingdom has been overrun by the suitors. With the help of Telemachus and a few loyal allies, he reveals his identity and fights to reclaim his home, his family and his place as king.

In my opinion, The odyssey is an ambitious and visually impressive film that brings Homer’s legendary story to life in an exciting way. What stood out to me most was the way the film combines adventure and mythology with deeper themes of courage, loyalty, and perseverance. It captures the greek mythological experience by homer in an enticing way giving us a view from a warrior who fought in the Trojan war and his experiences returning to his homeland after a significant amount of time. I believe the movie precisely captured what happened after the war and displayed exactly what homer had wrote about in the books it was truly a perfectly displayed movie done by none other than Christopher Nolan himself.
