Connect First has begun development of 23 energy efficient social rent homes at Killingbeck Bridge with the project expected to be completed by Autumn 2027. Connect Housing have started this project in Partnership with Cubed Group.
The 23 homes consist of one, twoand three-bedroom properties. Each home will be carbon efficient with the inclusion of solar panels and Low-carbon heating systems. Connect Housing have said the scheme supports the latest climate commitments.
The homes will be available to rent with residents being selected through the Leeds Homes bidding system.
The development has been part-funded by Homes England through their Social and Affordable Homes Programme.
Leeds East MP Richard Burgon supports the development saying: “East Leeds is a fantastic place to live, but like most places across Leeds there is a housing shortage, and affordable new homes in appropriate places are an important way to meet that need in our community”.
Martyn Broadest, Director at Home at Connect Housing said: “We’re grateful to Homes England for supporting the project through the new Social and Affordable Homes Programme and believe it’s one of the first schemes in Leeds to be delivered through the government’s new commitment of £39 billion of support for new social housing over the next 10 years”.
The scheme comes as demand for affordable housing continues across Leeds, with authorities and providers seeking to increase the supply of homes.
