The council are creating a new market space in Huddersfield.
The council have set out plans to create a market provision in Huddersfield. This comes as part of a number of changes to town, to recreate elements of the town’s historic market hall. This is as part of the wider project, Kirklees Together.
Construction will begin this month, with the first phase being completed by August.
The temporary market will be located between Brook Street and the Tesco Car park. The temporary market will include indoor and outdoor stalls, public and accessible toilets, an office, and spaces for essential facilities.
Plans include repairs and changes to the colour scheme to red, pink, and creams to replicate the original colours of the town hall.
Once developed there will be 96 pitching stalls within the markets space and on Byram Street.
The final two phases will complete in January 2028 with completion of the Market Yard and other spaces.
