Calderdale has been recognised as one of the top 25 places in England for children and young people, in the Children's Commissioner's new Childhood Lottery report, published today. The borough is one of only three local authorities in the North of England to feature in the top places for children to grow up in.
This recognition reflects the strength of the collective commitment to children and families across Calderdale - the focus on enhancing outcomes and the impact of many years of partnership working between schools, the Council, the NHS, the local voluntary sector, and, most importantly, Calderdale communities.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services, Cllr Tim Holden, said:
"We are delighted that Calderdale has been recognised among the top 25 places in England for children and young people in the Children's Commissioner's Childhood Lottery report.
“This reflects the dedication of partners across Calderdale who work every day to help children and young people thrive.
“While we know there is always more to do, this recognition shows the positive difference being made through our focus on early help, strong partnerships, improving opportunities, supporting vulnerable children and listening to the voices of our young people.
“We are proud to be one of only three northern authorities featured in the top 25.
“We are determined to build the work we do with partners, families and communities to ensure every child and young person in Calderdale has the best possible start in life."
