Two trains containing passengers have collided near Bedford, as a result some passengers on board have serious injuries.
Passengers and their family members who have gathered have recorded videos from the scene which have shown people with visible injuries sitting on the floor.
The two trains involved are both believed to be East Midlands Railway services.
Experts and those at the scene are yet to report the exact cause and the events which led to the crash.
Heidi Alexander, the Secretary of State for Transport tweeted: “I’m deeply concerned to hear reports of the collision involving 2 East Midlands Railway Passenger trains.”
She added: “we’re working quickly with the rail industry and local partners to support passengers.”
There is no confirmation of the number or exact extent of injuries.
As of now, the journeys in the area are being suspended and passengers of other train services are being alerted of other ways to travel.
