Yorkshire water has created classes for children, to prevent the number of open water deaths.
As reported by the Yorkshire Post, this initiative will form part of drowning prevention week. The sessions will be delivered online and are designed to inform children about the dangers of open water. The session will take place between on the 17 and 18 June.
The campaign follows a series of water related incidents. Water safety organisations are urging people to be aware of the risks posed, particularly during periods of warmer weather where more people spend more time outdoors.
Yorkshire Water says the programme sets out to teach young people practical skills and knowledge which can help prevent accidents.
Schools interested in taking part can find information through Yorkshire Water’s website.
