The former DUP leader was found guilty of rape and assaults against children committed between 1985 and 2008. The 63-year-old denied all charges but was found guilty by the jury today.
His wife was also charged with aiding and abetting the crimes but was deemed unfit to stand a standard jury trial due to mental health issues. Eleanor Donaldson faced a trial of facts instead where she was found to have helped with the crimes but will not face conviction.
As reported by the BBC, there were two victims in this case who were know as complainant A and B in the court proceedings.
In court they had played interviews between Complainant A, the younger of the two victims and Police in Northern Ireland. The interviews outlined a number of incidents between her and Donaldson. She had described how Donaldson had his hand underneath her bra.
Both complainants had taken the stand. Complainant B also outlined the encounters between Donaldson where she was abused.
Donaldson was found guilty of all 18 of the charges that were put against him. This included a charge of rape, 4 charges of gross indecency towards a child, and thirteen charges of indecent assault of a female child.
Sentencing is set to occur in September.
