Councillors in Calderdale have voted in favour of having the Union Jack flown above public buildings on a permanent basis.
As reported by the BBC, the councils Governance and Business Committee met on Monday evening. They conducted a vote where four out of seven members where in favour of the motion. Now it will hear by the rest of council.
The motion is very specific as to what flags can be flown. It would only allow five flags to be flown which includes the Union flag, the Cross of St George, the Council flag, Yorkshire flag and the Armed Forces flag.
This proposal would not allow for other flags to be flown. This would include other national flags in addition to the LGBTQ+ flag.
