Schools across England are set to close due to the heatwaves

Some schools have made the decision to close believing they are unable mitigate the negative impact of the extreme heat.

As reported by the Mirror, the schools are located in Southeast England, Southwest England, London, East Midlands, and the East of England. Should schools across West Yorkshire follow in their footsteps?

The schools who have made the decision to close are facing weather as hot as 35 °. Fortunately for us, West Yorkshire weather hasn’t quite hit those highs but it’s definitely warm enough for us to be reaching for our fans.

The government have offered advice for how schools should best manage the heat.  This includes increasing ventilation and keeping students hydrated. They have said that: “we don’t normally advise schools to close.”

They added that: “this is because school attendance is the best way for pupils to learn and reach their potential, and hot weather can usually be managed safely.”

Parents and guardians should read their children’s school websites and newsletters to get the most up to date information. Local council websites are also being updated regarding school closures.
