Kirklees councils are reaching out to local residents for ideas on how they can develop their local strategy for culture. They are looking for ideas in regard to events in Kirklees and how they can get more people participating.
The strategy is not solely looking to enhance cultural enrichment but also looking to improve the local economy. In addition, improve the wellbeing of those in the community.
Rachel Spencer-Henshall, Deputy CEO of Kirklees Council and Executive Director for Culture, says: “We’ve called the strategy ‘Culture is Ordinary’ because culture plays a part in everyone’s everyday life, whether we notice it or not. That’s why we’re so keen to hear residents’ views. This is your chance to shape the strategy before it’s agreed.”
If you would like to have your say you can submit the following survey here. Additionally, residents can attend the council’s in person consultations which take place in local libraries and local civic buildings. These events will take place on Thursday 9 July between 3pm and 7pm in the Council Chambers at Dewsbury Town Hall, and on Thursday 16 July between 3pm and 7pm in the Reception Room at Huddersfield Town Hall.
The survey will close at 5pm on Wednesday 22 July.
